Calories Burned Calculator

How Calories Burned Are Calculated

This calculator uses the concept of a Metabolic Equivalent of Task (MET) to estimate the number of calories burned. A MET is a ratio of your working metabolic rate relative to your resting metabolic rate. One MET is defined as the energy you use when you's resting or sitting still.

The formula is: Calories Burned = MET Value × Body Weight (kg) × Duration (hours)

For example, if you weigh 70 kg and run at 6 mph (MET = 9.8) for 30 minutes (0.5 hours), you would burn approximately: 9.8 * 70 kg * 0.5 hours = 343 kcal.
